Synopsis:
Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She’s got direction, ambition, and a mother who’s intent on keeping her that way.
But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, tattoos, and lip ring, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to.
But he’s also rude—to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before.
He’ll call her beautiful, then insist he isn't the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper.
Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin’s prejudice about nice girls like her?
Unless…could this be love?
My review: I was a little skeptical going into this book because I knew it was a One Direction fanfic, but I'm glad I read it. This may have started with the One Direction band members names but it truly has nothing to do with them. There is not one ounce of them in here.
From the start of the book I liked the character of Tessa. She had a plan, a goal, and the drive to get there. I even liked the small things about her character. As she is packing up to go off to her first year of college she has everything planned from her classes to finding an internship, but I guess its fair to say that all hell breaks loose when she meets her roommates friend Hardin. He is the hot asshole that a girl like Tessa shouldn't surround herself with, but might just need. As their interactions progress she starts to wonder about him but knows she shouldn't since anytime she is around him, he brings out the worst in her. Interesting enough she brings out the best in him.
As it goes, it is the tale as old as time story about Good girl meets Bad boy, but with a serious twist. I have to say this book is not what I was expecting, and I guess it was even more interesting to read because I see a lot of myself in the main female character. The book ends with a major cliff hanger that made me mad that I didn't have the next book. Luckily the series is finished so anyone interested in reading it can just marathon through it.
